 Chicken Turf / Chicken Grass

Artificial grass is now being used in farming to simulate a natural environment for poultry. Chicken turf / chicken grass provides an indoor alternative to real grass, which would eventually be worn out by the daily activities of the poultry. The chicken turf is able to withstand scratching, pecking and dust bathing and thus provides a superior living environment for hens. In addition to its practical value in poultry farming, this article clearly highlights the durable qualities of artificial turf.

Modern poultry houses incorporating the use of chicken turf provide a unique housing concept for laying hens with night quarters and day quarters. The night quarters facilitate primary needs of sleeping, resting and laying eggs whereas the day quarters provide a space to roam free, peck and scratch. This new free range concept provides economic gains whilst allowing poultry famers to meet their social responsibility for animal welfare.

Chicken turf / chicken grass is the future of poultry farming and it helps to show the versatility of artificial turf, which has an abundance of possible applications from sports astro turf and safety surfaces to interior design and outdoor landscaping.
