The Perfect Garden Is Not Synthetic

A synthetic garden may look good but do you prefer a real grass lawn? Vote in our opinion poll to let us know. The perfect solution would be a real lawn capable of seeding, mowing and weeding itself and a wealthy individual may hire a gardener to achieve this. Many consumers of synthetic grass are dog owners desiring a durable product to cope with pets who have previously damaged large areas of their lawn. Residential areas with a hosepipe ban in force are also among the beneficiaries. However, if you have plenty of water, no pets and a professional gardener, could there be any other advantages to synthetic grass?

It seems that niche markets form the bulk share of the astro turf industry. Parents demanding a safe play environment for their children may opt for an artificial grass lawn with underlying shock-pads to offer protection from falling off climbing frames and other toys; many homes, schools and parks have already incorporated this. Sports institutions can gain from superior line marking techniques and consistently reliable surfaces; one example is that of synthetic putting greens, which have massively assisted the golfing industry by improving practice facilities. Corporate events and exhibition organisers who require a fast yet quality solution can rely heavily of synthetic grass which can even be laid as a temporary surface. Also, property developers can immediately transform newly excavated areas with synthetic grass without the risk of growth problems or concerns of topsoil quality.

Is synthetic grass only suitable for these niche areas or can everyone benefit from an artificial garden lawn? Send your views to webmaster@asgoodasgrass.co.uk or post a comment. The “As Good As Grass” team are eager to hear your thoughts.
