artificial grassThis event was sponsored by As Good As Grass. Artificial grass was installed for the Museums Sheffield organisation at The Big Bug Show. The museum Curator praised the artificial grass as realistic and inspiring. Visitors to the event also enjoyed relaxing on the turf to watch presentations. Here is what the museum Curator had to say...

Realistic Artificial Grass

This spring, As Good As Grass dramatically transformed our gallery into an immersive insect habitat for our new exhibition, The Big Bug Show. The use of the realistic grass laid throughout really wows visitors as they enter the gallery and brings an exciting sense of the outdoors indoors. The artificial grass is a crucial part of setting the scene for visitors to engage with our displays of natural history and live mini-beasts, and encourages them to spend longer in the atmospheric space.

The Big Bug Show features a cinema area showcasing Microcosmos, an award-winning film capturing a day in the life of a meadow and its tiny insect inhabitants. Adult visitors love being able to relax and sit on the artificial grass to watch the film, while children are mesmerised by our 'Creep and Crawl' play area in which they can dress up and lounge on bug cushions nestled in the grass.

I would like to thank all of the As Good As Grass team for providing great product advice throughout the exhibition planning stages, generous in-kind support and a highly efficient installation service. We have received 23,500 visitors in the first month of the exhibition and the artificial grass still looks as good as new.

Comments On Astro Turf

"Microcosmos had the audience in awe, while the younger visitors loved the 'Creep and Crawl' play area – simply everyone loved the Astroturf!"
- Helen Banks, Front of House Manager at Museums Sheffield: Weston Park.

"The main gallery is inspired – the astro turf makes such a difference."
- Sandra Newton, Museums Sheffield Trustee

"The Astroturf in the children's play area was a remarkable touch. In-keeping with the insect theme of the show it really bought the outdoors inside. My daughter loved it as it was the grass she could identify with but hygienic, fun and above all atmospheric! Artificial grass should really be used in more exhibitions that are interactive."
